While pursuing his business studies at the University of Illinois, Shannon faced an unexpected and life-altering challenge. He contracted a rare case of shingles that led to varicella encephalopathy, a severe condition affecting the brain. This diagnosis could have been a devastating setback, but Shannon's determination and courage turned it into a story of inspiration.

Shannon uses a text-to-speech app on his iPad to communicate, showcasing the incredible advancements in AAC technology. We first heard Shannon's remarkable story at the Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) conference in January. His insights and experiences left a lasting impression on all who attended.

We were honored to have Shannon as our keynote speaker at our Team United meeting.
