Honoring the past, leading the future
After years of innovation, commitment, and collaboration, Kate Dunning, Matt Dunning, and Marty Gallagher are retiring, bringing to a close an extraordinary chapter in Smartbox’s history.
Where it all started
From their early days working out of home offices, the three took a leap of faith with a shared vision of making AAC more accessible. Through their leadership, they helped establish Talk To Me Technologies as a trusted name in AAC by consistently placing the needs of users and families at the heart of everything they did. Together, they shaped not only the company’s growth, but also a culture rooted in empathy, creativity, and lasting impact. As they hand over leadership, their legacy at Smartbox will continue to be felt in every product, partnership, and person who joins the AAC community.

Our new president
The torch is passing to a new Smartbox US president, and we are proud to welcome a leader whose journey reflects the very heart of our organization, Jordan Miller, into this new role. Starting in a technical support role and growing alongside the company for more than a decade, her path has been shaped by curiosity, dedication, and a deep commitment to helping individuals find their voice. With experience spanning multiple departments and a clear passion for collaboration and innovation, this next step is both a natural progression and an exciting opportunity to guide the organization into its next chapter, while staying grounded in the mission and culture that have always defined us.
Jordan Miller, President
Jordan's journey
Jordan started as a Technical Support and Clinical Trials Coordinator, a role that spanned a wide variety of responsibilities including customer care, repairs, trials, manufacturing, shipping, and research and development. In 2015, she advanced to Director of Technical Support, and by 2017, she stepped into the role of Vice President of Client Services. Over the next several years, her scope expanded as she became more involved with funding, claims, information management, and office management teams. During this time, she also served as Corporate Compliance Officer. In 2024, she was promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations, where she focused on scaling and aligning operational efforts across the organization. Each step along the way provided new insights and reinforced her appreciation for how interconnected the company’s teams are. Now, as she steps into her new leadership role, she is focused on thinking more holistically about how to help as many people as possible find their voice.

Moving into the next chapter
When asked about Jordan, founder Kate Dunning had this to say:

It’s a new day, but sprung by the same vision, strength, and integrity. The characteristics of this new leadership are why Matt, Marty, and I are at peace and will shift to other things with clear minds and hearts."
