About

BSME, Assistive Technology Specialist

Bruce graduated from Santa Clara University with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and obtained graduate certificates in Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology from San Francisco State University and Technical Communications from De Anza College. In his career spanning 25 years in Assistive Technology, he has worked in inter-disciplinary teams at the Rehabilitation Engineering Center at Stanford, in Palo Alto; CART at Rancho Los Amigos, in Los Angeles; and UCP’s San Diego Assistive Technology Center. Bruce has extensive experience in orthotic and prosthetics, custom wheelchair seating, alternative access to computers and AAC, and speech device mounting. As an AAC Consultant for TTMT, he is a trusted resource to assist in assessment, training, and implementation of augmentative and alternative communication and related technology.

Fun facts!

Bruce is a competitive sailor; sailing is his passion, his addiction, and source of spiritual renewal.
Bruce is a native to Kailua (Oahu), Hawaii. He still has family in the islands and it's still the place he calls home.
Bruce owns and wears four different American-made utility kilts. He says, "they’re fun, very comfortable, and much cooler than pants!"

What I do best

Listen carefully to the needs of my clients, their families, and SLPs to gain understanding of how I can best help.
Provide my AAC knowledge and expertise to assist in finding the best possible communication solutions.
Answer questions and providing guidance with paperwork and insurance requirements during the process of obtaining an AAC device.
Train clients and their care teams on the set-up and use of new TTMT equipment to ensure easy and timely implementation.
